“Old Fergie tactic”, “This is gonna be fun”: Many Liverpool fans react to bitter rivals’ setback

Liverpool face Manchester United this weekend as the age-old rivalry gets set for a new chapter to be added to the story.

Whilst the Red Devils have not been able to come anywhere close to the Anfield outfit’s level of consistency so far this campaign – they are currently 27 points behind having played a game more – they are likely to still be up for the match at their fierce rivals’ home ground on Sunday.

However, they have potentially been dealt a huge blow following their FA Cup third round replay on Wednesday. Marcus Rashford, their top goalscorer with 19 goals in 30 matches in all competitions – including 14 in 22 in the Premier League – lasted just 16 minutes before coming off with an injury, and is now a doubt for the clash versus the Reds.

The big fat Liverpool quiz of 2019 – how much do you remember about the last year at Anfield?

With United facing their team next, Liverpool fans were out in force to react to the news. Many supporters though are not convinced that he is really injured, and instead think this is mind games from the opponents.

It is some conspiracy theory, and it does seem a little too elaborate. The England international looked in genuine pain when he left the field at Old Trafford, and he’s probably not going to be winning an Oscar for his acting abilities anytime soon.

Others meanwhile, truly believe he is injured, and they appear to be delighted.

Liverpool were already huge favourites to win the match anyway given the difference between the two in the table, but United potentially losing their top goal-scorer will only make them even more confident.
