Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Nuno Santo has confirmed that one of the club’s academy prospects is indeed a full-time member of the first-team squad as we embark on the final portion of this current campaign.
What’s he said?
The west Midlands outfit were relatively quiet during the January transfer window, only really bringing in one senior option as Daniel Podence joined from Olympiacos, a brave move considering the lack of options the Portuguese chief has had at his disposal in recent times.
However, their squad has been bolstered from within after Nuno revealed that Oskar Buur was “100 per cent” a first-team player in his pre-match press conference ahead of their Europa League tie against Espanyol.
Presser over. Nuno and Coady were speaking at the same time. Nice stuff from skipper on the 'amazing' journey in the Europa so far.
Asked Nuno about Oskar Buur, who's been in squads for a while, and the Wolves boss says he is '100 per cent' a first-team member now. #wwfc

Strength in depth
It is an interesting call to make so randomly in the season, but ultimately, it is a decision that needed to happen – as mentioned above, Wolves’ squad depth is rather disastrous.
There’s no clear backup to Raul Jimenez in the centre-forward role with Benny Ashley-Seal out on loan and Patrick Cutone long gone, and the same goes for Matt Doherty at left wing-back.
Who is that?! Nobody has been able to name the teams all of these obscure managers were once in charge of…
But now Buur’s mini-promotion means the Irishman has a cover and Nuno has another option in one of his most vital areas.
As Wolves always play with three-at-the-back, whether that’s in a 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 doesn’t matter, both formations utilise a trio of centre-backs and two wing-backs with the wide players being a primary source of attacking output.
The two players either side of Jimenez in the attack, usually Diogo Jota and Adama Traore, tend to operate the half-spaces between the midfield and the front three, so it is crucial that Wolves’ marshalls on the flank get up and down that wing to provide crosses and balls inside.

Maybe we will see Buur feature in the Europa League this evening or at some point in the near future.
